Date Announced: 20 Jan 2011 Palm City, FL., U.S.A. – SOL Inc. announces its partnership with the Embassy of the United States of America in Panama City, to provide solar lighting systems in an effort to assist the Embassy in achieving energy efficiency goals set by President Obama. President Obama has mandated that U.S. government agencies increase the prosperity of the United States, promote energy security, protect the interests of taxpayers, and safeguard the health of our environment by increasing energy efficiency. Specifically, Executive Order 13423 and Energy Independence Security Act (EISA) require Federal agencies to adopt effective measures to meet eight energy and environmental management goals, including reductions in energy intensity, use of renewable energy, water conservation, transportation management, sustainable buildings, and environmental stewardship. Solar lighting by SOL combines renewable solar energy and efficient LED lighting to reliably illuminate outdoor spaces at the Embassy without any additional energy usage from the electricity grid. The U.S. Embassy is working proactively with SOL though its local agent, Willpower LLC, who initially suggested that providing off grid lighting for the Embassy would showcase solar lighting as an integral part of the greening initiative of the U.S. Embassy in Panama. SOL’s unique blend of experience and technology makes them the ideal partner to assist the U.S. Embassy in their energy greening goals. The solar LED lights are scheduled to be installed this week followed by an Embassy reception.“One of our primary goals at the U.S. Embassy in Panama is to support environmentally-sound initiatives that help communities and people ‘go green’ through the use of innovative technology and the conservation of resources. As part of this effort, we are pleased to collaborate with SOL to reduce the energy use of our LEED-certified Embassy, as well as provide a concrete way to address the challenges of climate change and to facilitate the use of leading-edge green technologies developed by U.S. companies,” said U.S. Ambassador to Panama, Phyllis Powers. SOL Inc. General Manager, Audwin Cash, is pleased that the U.S. Mission engaged with SOL saying, “It is encouraging that the U.S. Embassy is actively seeking off-grid solutions. SOL is proud to partner with the U.S. Embassy to reach its mandate to utilize renewable energy. SOL’s 20+ year history of providing reliable solar lights worldwide further demonstrates SOL’s commitment to energy independence.”Under the agreement, SOL will initially donate four LED lighting systems for a parking lot application, along with providing installation training at the U.S. Embassy. Powered by the sun and built for long life, SOL’s high flux LED lighting systems offer unmatched performance and will illuminate the U.S. Embassy facilities for years without blackouts, terrorist threats, and increased energy costs.
